Who are we and why we do this....
The American Legion Amateur Radio Club, TALARC, was created by a resolution in 2011. The Club grew to become one of the largest in the Nation. As a hobby and a means of Civil-Defense Communications during natural disasters, Amateur Radio (HAM) has long been an interest of Veterans whom many have served in the Communication Field in all branches of military service.
As American Legion Members, we are devoted to support our youth, World Scouting, Girl Scouts, Jr. ROTC, Civil Air Patrol and other youth to learn the value of using radio communications.
Here, in Tennessee, the Volunteer State, all of our members understand the importance of volunteering. Most of us have taken the Oath of Enlistment into the Armed Forces, however we carry that sacred oath after our service is concluded by continuing serving to the state, county and to our local community.
